Solar pv electric water heater

Okay guys so here are the solar panels  they’re basically just mounted on this  you know rack so there’s four posts very  simple four posts going up and then to  rail to Yunus truck – well parallel to  each other and then it’s just for post I  make it this way as you can see the  joint up there  so that’s mounted on an L bracket and  obviously there’s another joint right  here another L bracket right here so  that what that does is that it allow me  to raise this post right here I can  raise this Yunus truck post up and down  to change the angle of the of the panel  and I’ll show you a picture from a buff  that I took a buff so you can see that  it’s at about forty degree angle right  now because of the winner the sun’s  really low here in Arizona in the winter  times so that’s where they set to do at  least 45 degrees to actually fully  utilize the Sun.

But I can’t make it any  lower it’s going to hit my head so  that’s what it’s going to be so  basically there’s four panels total so  two is in series and then parallels  together so and I’ll talk more about the  panel once we get inside so here is the  disconnect switch box so basically just  got the two two sets of wire going down  from the top right here going in to the  disconnect all this does just disconnect  the solar in case any button anyone want  to disconnect it and then it’s the  ground rod the ground rods right there  it’s hard to see right now but it’s  right there  and I need to get some bigger wire  we’ve been able to go to the store to  get some bigger wire yet but and then  this one the Condor would that go up and  go inside the addict and then go to  cross the house to the garage the  problem of my Alan’s is that this size  phase and cell but the garage is on the  north side so that was the the other  challenge running 110 foot of wire so  that was the other challenge going  through the attics and doing all that.

So  that was a pain but everything else was  pretty easy and so we’ll go inside now  and I’ll show you the where how  everything is wired inside so sorry it  took so long to make a new video I’m at  my parents house this is not my out if  you watch my previous solar system on my  other house this is not the same this is  something completely new so in my parent  house this is the gas hot water tank and  this is a new one the old the old water  heater was was gas natural gas and it  has a what they call a hybrid water  heater that heats the water and it have  a recirculated coal line that would go  up into the attic and to the furnace so  this house is actually using the furnace  furnace it’s using the water heater as a  heat source so basically heats up the  water and then the water get fed into  the attic going to the furnace go  through the coil the fan blow through.

It  heats the house the cold water comes  back down circling and go back into the  tank now at this house the only thing  that’s using natural gas is the water  heater nothing else everything else is  electric so it kind of doesn’t make  sense for me to go out there and buy  a new gas water heater again because  that one it’s it’s completely rusted and  it’s basically started leaking so it had  to be replaced so when I replaced it I  was waiting to replace the tank now that  I that the time comes and I need to  replace it I decided I’m going to put an  electric tank obviously gas natural gas  would be more efficient or more cost  effective than a electric tank because  the electricity probably costs a lot  more to heat the water compared to the  natural gas anyhow I decided to do it  anyway because then I would save the ten  dollar monthly service fee from from the  gas company because they’ll charge you  $10 for the monthly fee plus you know  whatever you using so without that I  could save $10 a month but then.

If I can  use half of the tank to be heated by  solar and I’m not talking about the Sun  solar I’m talking about PV solar as in  solar panels  taking in Sun power and producing  electricity and then using that  electricity and feed it to the water  heating element which what I’m about to  show you and having the grid only ask  for backup or or or in case of any extra  power for the cloudy days and stuff like  that the only issue that I have with  this thing is that because it had to  recirculate in water for the furnace I  ran into a lot of problem doing the the  rerouting of the pipes because obviously  I’m going to take the camera off I guess  they could show you so in order for me  to go out and buy water heating tank  that does the same thing would cost at  least a grand over $1,500 so that just  doesn’t make sense so I did what my  neighbor did and basically get in just a  regular tank  and then just reroute the co line back  into the coal and then put a check valve.

Oh  basically this is just a one-way thing  it only lets water go in one way so this  is basically here’s my water softener  cold water coming in and it goes into  this tea and this is where the furnace  we turn the cold water to so they only  go this way returns the water into the  cold and the cold go into the house  right here and then it will go the other  side of the coal line will go into the  tank so you can see here and then from  here though this is where the hot would  come out goes inside the house and  there’s a tee right there and then this  go down have a valve right there it shut  it off in the summertime and this line  goes into this elbow and this is where  you’re going to the furnace and then  this is where it come back down so come  back down  and then it’s going to go back up go  through that check valve one way.
